The International Peace Institute is an independent, international not-for-profit think tank with a staff representing more than 20 nationalities, located in New York across from United Nations headquarters. IPI is dedicated to promoting the prevention and settlement of conflicts between and within states by strengthening international peace and security institutions. To achieve its purpose, IPI employs a mix of policy research, convening, publishing and outreach.

INCORE: Initiative on Conflict Resolution & Ethnicity was set as a joint Initiative of the United Nations University, and the University of Ulster to address the management and resolution of ethnic conflicts through research, training and other activities which inform and influence national and international organizations working in the field of conflict. INCORE's Conflict Data Service offers an extensive Information Bank, which acts as a host to information on the various Academic Programs and Training Programs in the field, the organizations and institutes concerned with the issues relating to conflict and ethnicity, and a more General Guide to the subject. Additional resources include a Bibliographic Database, and a Researcher Database.
INCORE
International Alert (IA) aims to contribute to the prevention and resolution of violent internal conflict. Its website is currently being redesigned and is expected to be re-launched some time in 1999. In the meantime, their site provides some brief information about IA's mission and work.

International Crisis Group (ICG) is a private, multinational organization committed to strengthening the capacity of the international community to understand and respond to impending crises. Its approach is grounded in field research. Teams of political analysts based on the ground in countries at risk of crisis gather information from a wide range of sources, assess local conditions and produce regular analytical reports containing practical recommendations targeted at key international decision-takers. ICG currently operates field projects in eight countries world wide: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania, Macedonia, the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, Algeria, Burundi, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Cambodia. Information is also available in French.

International Relations and Security Network, Among the services offered are: an annotated links library, a limited area search tool (ISN LASE), a selection of resources on current world affairs, and specialized fact databases. ISN also develops educational modules in the fields mentioned and acts as a platform for networking, dialogue, and cooperation within the international security community. ISN's Internet services are public and free of charge. Includes peace and conflict research, is very comprehensive and is updated daily.
