"The Prosecution of War Crimes and Respect for Human Rights: Ethiopia's Balancing Act." by Julie V. Mayfield. This article examines the recent history of Ethiopia, focusing mainly on the abuses of the Mengistu regime; the transition to the Transitional Government of Ethiopia; and the creation, mandate, jurisdiction, and current work of the Special Prosecutor's Office (SPO), established in August 1992 to prosecute these cases. Briefly discusses the debate over the use of international law or domestic law and the duty to prosecute with some focus on current and potential human rights concerns.

Produced the by Catholic Commission for Justice and Peace in Zimbabwe and the Legal Resources Foundation in April 1999, this report summary prevents evidence about the reign of terror promulgated by 5 Brigade, other elements of Zimbabwe's security network, and ZANU-PF Youth against civilians, especially in the years 1982-1987. The report is a short version of a longer book written by the same organizations, published in 1997, but now out of print.
